Happened to be visiting my parents this past weekend and got a chance to go to Friday night test and tune at the new dragstrip at the S.G. Motorsports park

Its brand new and there's a lot more to be done to it, but it seems like it will turn out to be a nice track. Unfortunately, I did not see one Buick (GN or old GS cars) running. I figured what with the GSCA headquarters being in Valdosta (approximately 15 miles away), there would be a few Buicks in attendance. Heck, I wonder if there will be a push now to move the Nationals there?

Does anybody on the board live near and plan to start racing there? Just curious. I'm going to take my 67 with the 455 down the next time I go and do a little running myself. Its not a real busy track yet so its easy to get a LOT of runs in. Hopefully, I'll start seeing some other Buick owners there. Maybe I can convince Evans Ward in Macon to pop down and run his white Turbo T. A real nice sleeper car that could surprise a few unsuspecting victims.

I had a lot of fun friday watching the racing. The most interesting thing was a guy who, when the light turned green, jumped onto the handlebars of his motorcyle and rode a wheelie about 3/4 way down the track. I also saw a Supercharged 03 or 04 mustang running mid 12's on his street tires. Not sure whether the car was stock itself. The funniest thing was watching some of the ricer cars raced by people who obviously couldn't drive sticks.....well, couldn't race them anyway. I was totally blown away by the guy on a 4 wheeler that ran a low 12 second time. He was faster than about 75% of the cars out there. One guy with a non-stock Hayabusa motorcycle ran a 9.4 and totally screwed up his launch. That's a VERY fast bike. The stock bikes were running 10s.

Hopefully, some GNs will start showing up and surprising a few people.

I'll be running mine there soon after I rebuild the engine. There has already been a few turbo buicks there already. My friend just bought a black T and will be going down as soon as he gets tires.

This will be one of the closest GOOD 1/4 mile tracks near me. If there is a National there I WILL attend. I'm even trying to get an outing together for my car club. www.gulfcoastmuscle.org
