I bought a new 2006 chevy silverado and i love it. it's got the all-alum 5.3 H.O. and for a extended cab Z-71 it will move on.

It get 16 on average around town and out on the highway i have got average of 19.8-20 MPG with it.

Towing my buick with a 16FT all steel flat deck trailor it got 14 MPG and i couldn't tell it was back there.

it's more of a truck than my old 94 GMC k2500 5.7 TBI.

if i was you get the 07 silverado classic they look like the 06's the new truck has to grow on me for a bit.

Yep that's what I get with my truck in MPG. All the way out to Bowling Green from California towing the Buick. 75-80mph w/ A/C on all the way 14-16mpg K&N, 3'' Flowmaster cat back, New Plugs, New Fuel Filter, Royal Purple oil. ;)

Mine is stock with a k/n and predator flash tune for the speed limiter :)

My 2003 Hemi Ram 1500 has been a great truck, except for the gas mileage which now has improved with the new MDS engines.

I'd go with the gmc then the chevy. You can"t go wrong with the Ford either as long as it is a Super duty. They are probably the sharpest and toughest trucks out there. The GM's definately drive and ride better than the Fords.Dodge I would never consider.Toyota as long as you are just looking for a nice reliable truck. If you loved the ride of your gmc/chevy than I would stay with that because the Fords will be night and day difference in ride quality and feel. This is just my opinion others might think the Fords ride better.

I use to get 11.8 - 17.ish MPG in my 04 sliverado....I think the 31's has something to do with that. The thing sure did hall A$$ though. I cant wait to get the new one. :D :D :D

I like the GMC front end over the Chevy. For the most part the options are the same. For identical trucks the MSRP is only $350 difference...the GMC being the higher priced one.

Like I stated before, I had the 04 and loved it. For the most part the 04's are almost identical to the 06's with the exception to the HD hood. I have not quite warmed up to the 07 chevy grill but the GMC I have warmed up to. As far as the interior, I think the 07 interior is much nicer than my 04. Dont get me wrong the 04 was very nice too.

Why do you need a truck? They waste way too much gas and most of America doesn't even use them for what they are for. We don't need trucks in this society anymore anyway. Everyone talks about going to home depot so they need a truck but most people only go a few times a year and they ship to your fricken house for free anyway. Just get a car that gets over 30 mpg and then keep your Buick as your bad gas mileage car that is driven on the weekends. No sense in wasting over $100 at the pump and wasting even more of a non-renewable resource. I hate it out here in Southern California everyone and their f'n mother drives an f150 or larger and has it raised to the clouds with offroad suspension and a big exhaust. The trucks out here are just retarded. No one even uses them as they are supposed to. People use them as daily drivers to drive 50-100 miles to work! That's just idiotic and wasteful.

Anyway, unless you are going to use it everyday at like construction or something then don't buy a new one. Just buy an old POS that you can use when you go to home depot or wherever once a month that you might ACTUALLY use the truck. But whatever, I guess some people like wasting $100 every 2-3 days at the pump when I only waste about $25 in my DD that gets over 30 mpg. Shoot, as a matter of fact I wish I had one of those VW TDI's for my DD and go 50 mpg. I would if I could.

Love to see you tow a trailer with a car that gets 30 MPG. $100? I can gas mine up for $65 every two weeks. They get decent mileage...Maybe no fords but chevy's do.

Well what are you towing on your trailer? And how often do you really tow anything? 3-4 times a year? Just rent a truck for the day/weekend you are towing something like a boat when you go to the lake.

i love spending my gas money on my gas hogs :)

Well I am rich!!!!

Actually I do have a use for a truck. Not only do I frequent the mountains for snow or summer camping, but I carry a lot of gear for work.

O and lets not forget the fact that I would like to tow my car to the track. I'd like to see you tow my Buick-a 3500 lb car with a 4cyl Acura tsx.

But what do I know.

LOL. I don't get how you can drive a high performance anything, want it to be fast and make big power, and then ask for fuel efficiency.

Now granted there are individuals with their TR that actually get decent mileage, but I doubt those individuals sustain the decent mileage when they put their foot in it.

I vote for the 07 F150.But I'm biased I have owned Ford trucks for the last 18 years.I've never had any real problems with them, just basic maintainance.

Here's my 06 Roush Champions Edition F150 4x4

actually my GN gets about 22 MPG on the highway.

The T-type get about 19 on the highway.

My 06 silverado gets on average 16-16.5 in the city and averages 20 MPG on the highway.

But i guess there gas hogs since none of them get 25 MPG or better.

I have been working on a lean highway tune for the GN using the fast system to try and squeeze some better mileage out of it. i'm currently running a A/F around 15.5-15.6 @ light throttle percent of 15 % or less.

Yeah like I said, some TR's get good mileage when the miles are "calm" miles, but the second to stick you foot into it, then the decent gas mileage goes out the window.

For the most part my buick gets about 21MPG's, my Acura TSX gets 34 MPG on the freeway. Its nice but at the cost of moving capabilities.

I just like to save money and yes I'm a little for saving a bit of gas so we have some longer in this world. I drive my Buick but only once a week and a few miles at that so it doesn't impact me much. if it were my daily driver then you guys would have a point about me contradicting myself. Btw, 20 mpg, 25 mpg, even 30 mpg is sh**ty gas mileage. Cars need to become more advanced. In America we've been using roughly the same technology for 50 years or so. They need to bring those small diesel cars back like they have over in Europe. For example, not saying I would drive this car because its ugly and too small but the VW Lupo over there gets between 70 and 100 mpg on a little 1.2l diesel. That's more than enough power for our daily commutes to work. Then you can have something like our Buicks for those Sunday drives when you want to go fast. I love my Buick but I'll be honest and say that Europe has way better cars then we do and are way more efficient and less poluting. I just wish they had some of those cars that get over 50 mpg over here so I could buy one and save a ton of money on gas. But I guess if you think 20 mpg  is good you need to wake up and really see what some cars that we don't have available to us can do with gas mileage while still maintaining good power.

Here's another example, the best fuel efficient cars we have in America are the Prius (retarded), and the VW diesels. The Jetta, Golf, and Passat diesels get between 40 and 55 mpg. They just came out with their SUV Touraeg diesel that gets 30-40 mpg. And yes, I'm sure that Touraeg could pull your boats and cars just fine. Mercedes will be bringing back their diesels too and so will BMW and then we will finally have some cars that we can buy that get good gas mileage. The next step is for American automakers to first make better cars with better interiors (new Vette is sweet with the power but interior looks like sh**, felt like I was in a Cobalt), and then add their own diesels.

I think the most important market for fuel efficient vehicles right now is the small little compact cars like the Civic. They get a little over 30mpg but that's not enough considering you can get a car with a v6 that gets a little worse but roughly the same gas mileage. The little cars like Civics and Jettas should be mandatory with a diesel option that gets over 50. That would be great. Also, all trucks and SUVs should be diesel only and have to make at least 25 mpg in the city. The technology is out there to make fuel efficient, powerful vehicles (again look at Europe), but the car companies are just too lazy.

So, I suggest for your daily commutes get a car that gets at least 30 mpg and then save some money on an older truck that you can use to tow your Buick or boats or whatever that you don't have to use too often.

One other thing, when I said the europeans make more efficient and less polluting vehicles compared to ours it is the truth. For example, one of Mercedes V8's (I believe it's an E class) is renowned for how efficient and clean it burns gasoline. Whereas, Fords 4.6l V8 is so polluting they just throw 4 catalytic converters on it and call it a day. Instead of just throwing a bunch of converters on, American automakers and some other automakers should learn to make the cars cleaner burning and more efficient just like the Mercedes V8 for example. That would especially help with the tightening restrictions we are now seeing here in the US, especially CA.

well my take on it is this. if a car gets great gas mileage it has no power. why i say this you ask? well it takes fuel to make power so if it very fuel efficent it's not making any power.

Diesel's costs more to buy then they cost more to service and up keep and the fuel is not very much cheaper if any than gasoline so tell me in the end where did you end up saving money?.

BTW since the new epa regs on diesels in 07 the power and fuel mileage has dropped.
