Just bought a 60 and the thing has no hole for the wastegate solenoid hose fitting (you know, the one that y's off from the sensor to the solenoid and the compressor housing).

Do I have to have one? I think so.

If not can I just block off the lines and run boost purely off the solenoid spring tension?

OR, is it best to just get a hole drilled and tapped in the housing???

Thanks!!!

I had that with my 61, so I T-d off of one of the lines coming from the top of the Throttle Body. Bad Idea. The one that I T-d off of was right next to the one that feeds the fuel pressure regulator. Well, I use a bleed valve to increase my boost. While I was bleeding boost to get more boost, I was also bleeding it off the FPR, which was decreasing my fuel pressure. Bad combination.
I closed the bleed off for a while, and still had problems. The boost had to go from the turbo, through the piping and intercooler before it got to the wastegate to limit boost. I kept getting boost spikes like crazy.
I drilled my housing, and got boost from there. Much much better now. All of those problems went away. If you drill it, just find a relatively thick spot, tap it out to what you want. I used 1/8"NPT, and make absolutely sure that none of the shavings get into the turbo. I took the housing off and clamped it in a vise to do it. Good Luck.

Oh, and if you just plug the lines, then there will be nothing to limit your boost. You will probably blow something up the first time you run it. So, no don't do that.
