Under my radio/ash tray area I notice an interface. Is this item stock?
Also another?
While at a cruise night I met 2 brother T-TYPE guys. One guy mentioned buying software to use with a cheap laptop is the best
thing to use. While the other guy had a direct scan.
What would be better??

Under the radio-ash tray area is the ALDL port. That is stock, and a very useful thing to have. All the scantools and scanning software plug into that port, except for Direct Scan. You can also read engine fault codes by using a paper clip to "jump" the two upper right terminals together.
As for the scantool of choice, I would definitely check that link. If you can get a "cheap" laptop that will run TurboLink V 3.0, that definitely looks like the way to go. I'm going with Direct Scan though, because my laptop is a POS :( Oh well, 18 hz data collection should be cool

Thanks for the info fellow turbo heads.
Guess I will look for a middle of the road laptop
& invest in the v3.0 software. Looks to have good features.
