Hello,

I don't own a turbo buick, but I do need some of your advice. I am in the middle of putting a 7m-gte(third gen supra engine) into a 93 2wd toyota pickup(2700 lbs). I know the key to the whole project is going to be the domestic trans with a brake. After a very long time of searching I found a kit to mate the 7m to a chevy bolt pattern that allows me to use off the shelf GM converters.

Keep in mind I want this to be a pretty streetable truck, but would like to see 10s. I am going to be running a chrysler 8 3/4 rear and I have just about every gear ratio ever made for that in my basement. I will also be on a 28" tire. After doing some research I am torn between the 2004r and th350. It seems the 2004r has overdrive which is a what I want, but is also the most expensive way to go. Another thing I noticed is first gear is a 2.76; so does this make it favorable for a turbo car which doesnt have the bottom end torque of a v8? On top of that if I run a high stall converter, the overdrive is going to load up the loose converter and make it run hotter. The TH350 is attractive because of the price and it seems pretty bullet proof in built form. Plus I know a guy who has done this already with his supra and got down to 10.40s, I would be on my own with a 2004r.

I need some recommendations from you guys. What stall should I be looking for and what gears should I run in the rear? This will probably dictate whether or not this is a real street car or a 40mph highway car. I was talking to a fellow who got a th350 in his 3400lb supra and he said he needed a 4000 stall on 28" tires and a 3.73 rear.

One more thing is what is the difference in size between the 2? Does anyone have a few side by side pics of them?

Thanks for all your help guys and sorry for the novel
Dave
