So, decided to clean my air filter and intercooler today. I was told not to be too worried about the paint coming off however it seems like it's getting into the fins now. I used an O2 sensor safe carb cleaner and have kerosene on hand but is this acceptable for clean? Do I get a higher power wash gun and strip all paint? Also there are particles in the k&n filter that don't wanna come out. Should I be OCD and use a pin to gently pull em out? Thanks again friends!

Are you attempting to clean the interior or exterior of your Intercooler?

That cleaner you are using will strip paint. You don't need to do that. You want to clean the interior free from oil/dirt. On the exterior, you just want to blow out any dead bugs/dirt from between the fins.

That air filter looks clean. Don't use compressed air to blow it out. That might cause holes. If those particles are on the dirty side, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Thanks JM, I goofed. Shouldn't have tried to clean the fins with a product. I can take it to a car wash and pressure wash the paint that's coming off the fins. I figured paint was going to come off anyways. Bummer. Hope that doesn't cause me issues down the road. Should I get it repainted? Heres a before and after.
