can someone tell me what i should get for a next mod? my setup is in my signature

brent:D

Your next mod should be............POST SOME TIME SLIPS!!!!!
Your one of the few people on this board that have been here for a while now and while your signature is getting longer and longer you have never made one post, that I can think, of your times. Oh wait there is one. The last time you ever mentioned a time slip was way back in August 2001 when you were wondering why you couldn't go faster than 13.0 with all of your mods.......... well looks like you have alot more mods since then, maybe you'll go 12.99.

Sorry just had to get that out.

Timeslips would be nice but I'm no one to talk. I've been twice in 6 years and only went 12.9@110mph 3 years ago.

I didn't see ported heads in your sig. Those would complement the rest of your combo along with a bigger cam. You don't want to hear this but the single biggest bang for your buck would be an intercooler. I didn't want one either but I finally had to give in to the idea that if I wanted to be competitive with the faster cars around here an intercooler was necessary.

hey guys i see that one of u u booster u have the mease downpipe wit the dump which is the only downpipe ive seen so far that i can piurchase for my 85 but im wondering what does the dump pipe do ? please explain that for me or anyone help. and cool 84 where can i get a LT 3 inch downpipe can i still buy one? if not i guess ill go wit mease any info i apreciate

someone on the board is selling a brand new LT 3" DP. The MEASE piece is very nice! You can also get a 2.5" DP from ATR which is also very nice but small compared to the 3".

about the dump pipe: ever hear of running "open headers" thats basically what it is. you remove your cat and replace it w/ a Y shaped pipe. When the open end is sealed your exhaust gases run thru your full exhaust(mufflers, tailpipes, whatever you have) if it is open then the exhaust exits right there, it is "dumped" under the passenger seat. this does a few things:
-practically eliminates back pressure(GOOD!)
-makes the car much louder and makes the turbo whistle much louder
-leans out your mixture so you may need to bump up the FP a pound or 2
-supposedly good for 2 tenths or more depending on your setup

i got my dump from mease and am very happy with it. if you want I will sell you my Zero to Sixty 3" downpipe w/ mease 3" dump and go buy a Mease 3".

I got my LT DP from Lee Thompson. In a different post he said he has 3 for sale. I'm very pleased with mine and when you already have a big turbo and go from a stock elbow/2.5" downpipe to no elbow/3" DP, the spool and top end power was more than I was hoping for. Only drawback to the LT unit is it requires an external gate. I love the external gates because you set boost once, and never have to mess with it again. No boost creep, just rock steady boost in every gear. The Mease unit uses your stock gate which is great but wheras Lee provided great customer service and on time delivery, Mease is another story, you might be waiting for 6 months or better.

hey firebird thanks for explainin that to me i know excatly what ur sayin now so wit the dump u can just go loud or a bit quiter i might just go wit the whole mease dump pipe set up then but the bolt pattern looks a lbit different than my stock one i only got 3 bolts that hook up to the turbo and downpipe? oh and cool 84 so if u have no elbow what goes to ur headers? i know u have ur downpipe but how do u replace that elbow connection that goes to the headers? im not undertsnadin not seeing the whole picture in my head any pics to show what u mean that i can see

The elbow is on the turbo. It looks as if it is part of the turbo, it's the part the wastegate rod hooks to. Instead of the exhaust coming out of the turbine wheel and making a 90 degree turn, you remove that elbow and the new downpipe takes it's place. Exhaust can now come straight out of the turbo and make a gradual bend. In that particular area it's extremely important the exhaust has a few inches of straight pipe before it makes a bend.

So basically instead of the new downpipe bolting to the existing elbow with the 2 studs, Lee's and Mease's pipe replaces the elbow and uses the 4 or 5 bolts that used to hold the elbow on. When I bolted Lee's downpipe to my car I already had a TA64 turbo and I was amazed at the difference in spoolup.

There are pics of mine in the sticky thread on relocating the throttlebody at the top of the hotair page. Not sure if it works still.

hey

i will get some pics of the engine bay when i get the car back from the paint shop. right now the car is getting stripped and then painted. i will get some pics soon i hope. and as for time slips the car has been down do to a move and me being in the air force so i dont have much time to get to the track.
