OK this is what I have/plan on doing before turbo, inj.....
3"TH DP...2.5"ATR... fuelpump w/hotwire, adj reg., termostat and housing. , 3"maf pipe cone, trans cooler.....Plans before buying turbo, Ported intake and ported stockheads, larger throttle body---(Any suggestion on size) ... I am trying to take precautions and have a nice strong setup before adding serious power to it.. I know this is sort of off topic from turbos but I am getting there.. Is there any suggestions to other things I should look at before moving on to turbo injectors.. I was also thinking about a precision stock located IC, however I dont know/think I need this..

My Goal is to be able to run low12's-high11's running with moderate settings(boost and alky basically) with the capability of putting down some mid11's-low11's when getting a little more serious with the same set-up. Budget is a pretty big thing for me, I go to school and work part time.. Paying school, insurance, cellphone, really not too much cash laying around. However, i dont want this to happen overnight that is why I am saying is there anything that I should do internally/externally to my 87 buick before looking at turbo upgrades. I just dont want to throw too much at the engine and giving it more then it can handle.

For those who took the time to read this you are A+ in my book, and for those of your who take the time to respond to this you get an A+++... Thanks in advance for time and input.. Caleb:D

left one thing out

I forgot to metion that i want to try and keep the combo rather streetable.. Possible??? Let me know. Thanks

Forget about the throttle body at those speeds. Its not needed. If anything have the stock one ported a little (62mm).

For low 11s, I'd look at a 54, 61,62,63 or 64/45. The 65/45 are starting to get big, but with ported heads, you should be fine.

Is there anything else I should look into internally to accomodate this?? How much boost would I have to be putting out im guessing with the te45a (65/45) to get high or low 11's

oops that should be 64/45/66, all about the same size. Most of those turbos don't really get going until the 24-25 psi mark. They are all good for mid 10s.

I run 12.0 @115 on complete street trim with the mods listed below on 93 octane and alky. That's with a 2.0 60'. If I could put down a 1.6 60' I'd be mid 11s in street trim.

A newer 61 may be the ticket for you, should be able to hit a high 10 in race trim, but still spool like mad on the street.

2.0 to a 1.6 closer to lower 11's wouldnt you say?? I read some where that it is like every thenth off of your 60' is about 2 tenths off your 1/4

You're right about the conversion, it depends on if we're talking about a 15 second car or a 10 second car, but as a general rule of thumb, .1 sec at the 60' = about .15 - .2 seconds at the end of the quarter. I'm a little hesitant to say, "well my car should run low 11s in street trim with a good 60' " without actually doing it. It should probably run high 10s set on kill, but I don't announce it too much until I can back it up with a timeslip.

Get on here and read about the 54/61 (mid sized turbo) and see what people have in the way of supporting mods and what they run, then look at the the 63,64,45,66 (larger street turbo) and see what they have and what they run. With heads ported and polished I'd lean towards the larger turbo, but it really depends on what you want to do with the car.

Converter is in your future also along with slicks. One way to go about it would be max your combo out first with tuning sessions. Get some seat time in the car and have fun. Then slowly start molding the car to what you want. 61,54,62 would be good to upgrade because these turbo's have the potential to go beyond your goals for now. I highly suggest PAC alky kit from Julio and a chip from turbo tweak. Tune Tune Tune.... Timing, fuel, boost and dont be afraid of trying new things that seem to be outside of the box. Read all you can about these cars before tinkering with them...They are very temperamental.

Good advice from TT/Ameasap. Look at the times he's running, it isn't from the parts he has, its from the tuning. Not too many people take a 49 down that low, let alone on alky. I would say that TT/Ameasap's results are not typical, but more the result of someone who's put many hours into tuning and many track passes. He'd probably have my car running mid 10s.
