then push the private id option and walla
list the whole number along with the asterick, just the way it is shown in there, and talk away.

Chris, everyone Nextel customer has there own, what they call private id# which is for the walky talky use, pretty cool if you ask me.

So does this count towards the minutes you get each month for direct connect, or is coast to coast something separate?

the've had that for a long time probably a few years, there just now making a big deal about it. we've had them at work for a while, my dad has had one for his work for ever. kindof cool but the sound quality is either horrible or not at all. its also really annoying, you think a cell phone going off is annoying, wait till you start hearing ring ring, hey where are you? and its loud too. but nextel sucks and i can never get it to work, and when it is working theres no reception. i don't have much good to say about them.

As a Nextel customer, you automatically have access to the Nationwide Direct Connect™ service. You can use Nationwide Direct Connect on a pay-as-you-go basis for $0.10 per minute, per participant (charged to the call initiator). As a special introductory offer, billing does not begin until August 1, 2003.

Each customer automatically receives access to the Nationwide Direct Connect service on a pay-as-you-go basis. But you can add unlimited access option and enjoy your coast-to-coast walkie-talkie for a $10.00 monthly fee.

With both of these plans, Nationwide Direct Connect calls use the Direct Connect minutes included in your rate plan.

The Big Deal that is being made by Nextel at this time is the coast-to-coast service. Nationwide Direct Connect has been completed this month. As far as it being annoying....all Nextel phones have a volume control and most have a vibrating function.

ppssssttt guys,
Verizon Wireless will launch their nationwide direct connect next month. With there network nextell might be hurting. Plus effictive october or november 24th all wireless customers will own there numbers. Just a little heads up.
