i wasn't able to find anything about alochol injection in the ruel book. i know it is legal, but my question is do they require any special type of line, like a steel braided line or would i be able to get by with just a good rubber hose?

the steel braided lines do look better but they cost a lot more, and are a give away that something isnt' quite right. not to mention hard to find the right size, and you can't change the legnth if you have to.

I don't know for sure, but let me venture a guess based on my understanding of the NHRA rules on gas lines.

The NHRA only allows the use of minimal lengths of hose. They go so far as to stipulate how many inches. In short, for safety reasons, they want metal lines.

My strong suspicion is they want a metal or braided metal alcohol line.

You can phone them to be sure. They have rules guys available to answer questions.

:D

i'll give them a call and see for sure. i'm sure that as far as our saftey is concerned there isn't any issue with using rubber hoses. but its like the helmate thing for them, we never need them but should wear them anyways.

i did find an older version of the rule book that kindof gives some direction on it. it states that all fuel lines must be metalic or braided lines, then it says "motorcycles and individual inividual injectors excluded" i would guess that it could fall under the individual injector catagory.

i'll call and check.

Dennster,

Don't dis NHRA. I think I can make an argument that helmets and metal fuel lines are good things.

Oh, and some of the alky kit guys have gone to braided lines with good reason.

Stay safe, friend...

thats not what i was saying at all. metal fuel lines are a great idea, and helmets are the best invention ever, i wear one eventhough right now i'm not fast enough to need one.

what i was saying is, while its a good idea to have a helmet vary few people are ever put in a situation where they NEED one.
there are also very few situation where you need metal fuel lines (for alochol in this case) but its that one in a million time where its needed that its great to have it there.
so i guess what i'm saying is rubber hoses should be very safe, but there is a one in a million chance that something will happen to the hose, then another long shot that the fuel will egnite. either way, its just not your day..

NHRA is one of the best organizations i can thing of and i really can't say much bad about it. PLEASE don't think i'm saying there stupid for making people wear helmets and have roll bars.

u should be using braided steel anyways, as it is pressurized.

you can always get some black plastic conduit and put it around the braided hose, thats what im gonna do.

good luck

You can get rubber rated to 3000 psi.

We are using 100.

I'd just make sure whatever you use is rated for the corrosion effects of the liquid.

Far more important than the pressure rating. :)
