The other part of the story is that our car, a 70 Camaro, was completely destroyed in a trailer fire on the way to Dallas.
When news got out, we got a call from Barklage family racing, another pro mod team who was not racing this weekend. They immediately offered to step up and let us use their 57, only asking for fuel money to get the semi to Dallas. 12 hours later they showed up, at 2am Friday morning. We worked from 2am till 7am putting the motor in the car and preparing it for qualifying later that morning. On basically no sleep we got off three rounds of qualifying
that day, but it ended up raining all day Saturday cancelling the event.
What the Barklage family did for us was truly amazing, it's good to know there are still good people like them out there.
They dropped everything they were doing to help a team who lost everything in a fire, you can't get much more generous than that.
