I installed an OZ of unknown condition, installed a rebuilt D5, new filter, lines, Dex 6 fluid and a new aluminum radiator.
When I pulled the pan there was just a thin layer of black gunk, no chunks or magnetic particles.
Probably need a rebuild but what would cause only 3rd and 4th not to work?
I have reverse, 1st and 2nd.
Is there someting that might not be hooked up corretly from changing the filter?
A clogged valve passage???
Just want to see if there are any tips or tricks before I swap it out for another...

Donny Wang may have been correct about the Black sludge. Direct clutches may be what was in the Pan.
Direct clutch is applied in Rev, 3rd & 4th gears.
Is Reverse strong, no slipping?

Yes, reverse is VERY strong, I could do reverse burnnies probably :D
When I'm sitting in 1st with the foot on the brake the trans starts to shutter a little.
It's probably toast...
I have a couple others I can swap in while I get this one built to handle the motor I'm currently building.

Any other possibilities or comments?
