I’m new to the TB world, I’m just trying to wrap my head around all that I read so far on the this forum. It is very informative.
I am trying to stay away from Alky, I’m just curious as to the most you can get out of a 87 GN.
I have done most other upgrades such as :
Exhaust
Fuel Pump and regulator
60 lb injectors
Lt1 MAF
Translator
Running 16psi of boost
Tranny cooler
Commander Chip
Scanmaster
Can some of you let me know of your best 1/4mile without Alky?

Curious as to why stay away. Trying to get the most without it? About 16-17 lbs on pump gas. Detonation is not fun.

With good fuel you can crank up the boost. With your 16lbs and mods you have , with traction you might be in the high twelves at 106 or so. With the Alky, or good fuel and boost krunk up into the high 20s you are knocking on the very low 12s and on a cool evening knock out a high 11 if it all lines up for you.

Why no Alky?

W/o alky, stock turbo on some decent tires I'd say mid to high 12's is about right. Depends on driver and tuning ability.

As long as you tune for there to be zero knock you should fine. I never ran on straight up 93 octane. If i'm going to run the car I'm going to see what shes made of!

I've seen 12.7 with the very similar mods with a 1.79 sixty foot. 17lbs of boost.

It's either alky or race gas if you want to turn it up. Race gas, if leaded, will eat O2 sensors, which is expensive like the fuel itself. Alky is a secondary fuel system and thus another item to maintain, but it's the most cost effective way to make horsepower with these cars, any boosted car. We even run alky control on my old man's tpi Camaro b/c even that things knocks with 10.5:1 compression on aluminum heads! My stock turbo went 12.90's on alky at 22psi on a stock long block. You'll need those kind of boost numbers, either from alky or race gas, to get the most out of it.

Oh, btw, alky makes intercooler efficiency go much further. Even with race gas, you'll need a good intercooler to run hard.
