No new lightning or Cobra??????

I just read in Hemmings that Ford will not have a Lightning possibly until 2009. Partially for the reason that the new truck is 600 lbs heavier and they were not going to release a model that could not beat the SRT-10.

They also said the Cobra will not arrive until '07 or so.

That's too bad.

I spoke to our Ford Engineer about this Friday as he is part of the SVT team. No Cobra for 05, no lightening for 05 and the future for lightening looks bleak. He claims that studies show a very small market for the Lightening and SVT is considering dropping it all together. There will be a 06 Cobra, 5.4 3 valve 450HP This is from the horses mouth so I do not read much as every mag seems to have a different story. I tend to stick with someone that works on the SVT Team.

At 450HP and working for a Ford Dealership, I must say one would look nice in the garage.

That's good news on the Cobra. Too bad about the Lightning.

When/if I tire of the GN a new Mustang would be nice.
