OK guys, I need a little help here. I just installed new 87 GN motor in my El Camino. Got everything hooked up, primed the oil pump for about 5 minutes, and got 70 PSI on the guage. Cranked the mule up to breakin new camshaft, and got a god awful valvetrain noise in topend of motor. Did some checking and have very little oil coming to the rocker shaft assembly. I did all of the pre install stuff right. Got the lifters primed, primed the oil pump, put the oil plugs in next to the camshaft. Where did I go wrong? Just seeing if you guys could give me a heads up on where to start looking before I tear the whole thing down again.
Thanks

How did you prime the oil system?
How long after priming did you wait to start the motor? A couple of days or ??
Using a drill and oil pump primer tool is how I did mine. Started engine about 2-3 hours later and rocker chatter lasted about 20 seconds.
Did your oil gauge show any pressure when you fired it up?
If so, then it may take 20-30 seconds for oil to get to the rockers.
You can remove the covers and pour some oil over the rocker assemblies.
