No overdrive!

I noticed the other day that my car isnt shifting into overdrive. 2004r tranny shifts fine with no problems, just no overdrive. What could be the problem? Thanks.

A few things from ATSG manual.

(Valvebody & Spacer Plate)
3-4 Shift Valve or 3-4 Throttle Valve stuck.
Orifice in Spacer Plate plugged.

(Center Support)
Passages plugged.
Attaching Bolts loose/missing.
4th Clutch Piston- Cracked, Seals damaged.

(Case)
Leak between 3-4 Accumulator Piston & Pin.
3-4 Accumulator bore damage.

A Pressure gauge will help diagnose the problem.

TCC Solenoid wont prevent a 3-4 shift. It controls fluid flow to lockup the TCC.
2004R doesn't have Shift Solenoids.

Check the switch which is attached to the brake pedal.

just stating what my trans guy said, im not a trans person or my 4th gear would work lol

That would only prevent lockup. 4th is a valve that is controlled by governor pressure against TV pressure. Nothing electronic involved. Check what SSedan suggested. If there is a lot of debris in the pan, 4th clutches are gone. Could be a lip seal torn/cut/hard and not applying pressure to piston and is an internal leak. Pressure check needed.

Check the switch which is attached to the brake pedal.
