Ok, horn has been 'clicking' at the horn relay, removed relay, seated it back in firmly, still hear a 'clicking' sound when i press the horn.

Used a test-light on the dark green horn wire, NOTHING. Would a bad horn relay cause no power to the dark green horn wire? I thought the wire was hot all the time?

horn relay

my guess would be the horn relay. you might want to look on the horn relay for the part# and there might be another one under the hood you could use to test.

You need to check for power where the relay is located.

Is it in a 1984 car?

If so you will need the schematic for the 1984 horn system.

Relay works but if no power is present on what usually is a red wire into the relay the horn won't work.

Power on the feed to the relay should be active always via a fusible link or a fuse, not sure what they used on a 1984 car. Usually a red wire.

Also does the car have a factory alarm? Does it work properly?

If you can find the green wire in the relay socket and see a red wire with power on it at all times you can remove the relay and use a jumper wire or paper clip between the two socket positions and the horn should go off.

On the 1987 cars the same red fusible link powered wire runs the relay coil as well as the relay output feed to the green wire when the relay contact closure clicks in. Should be on two contact cavities in the relay socket or harness.

Jump the red wire if you have one with that paper clip and check for the power on the dark green wire at the horns, or else you should hear them go off if they are working and grounded properly.
