I don't run the a/c before racing but I do drive over a puddle of water before every run. I was just illustrating the point of my street-carness. And I'm not talking about competition here. At a test n tune, with no one in the next lane, I'd like to be able to run my street car all out without someone freeking out and getting preechy. When I run competition or even next to someone else, than safety standards can come into play and I'll run within whatever criteria the track deems necessary. If I'm not hurting anybody though, leave me alone. That's all I'm requesting but that is hard to find these days. Whatever happen to run what you brung?

the other option is to keep the safety guys and "wreckfull" guys separated. that way a flexing frame doesn't take-out some one with safety equipment.
I admit that as a personal goal, I want to make at least one single run in the high tens and get booted but at the same time i am not looking to go faster than 10.90 anyways.

Who pays the extra fees and crew needed to sort this crap out? Also who pays when some ding a ling dies and his/her car wasn't up to the sanctioning bodies rules? The insurance company charges a higher premium and the net effect is the racer following the rules pays the same extra amount the less safe racer pays even though the safer racer spent thousands already to make the car safer. It's not about making a sub 11.50 pass without a bar. Repeated blatant fast passes will eventually result in a crash. May take ten years or may be the next pass. When it happens I'd rather be in the safer car with the safer racer in the other lane. If you don't have the $$$ to follow the rules then you have no place on the strip.

Because it's easy to say that but when lawyers get involved and people see dollar signs their little "I'm not hurting anyone but myself" no longer applies. Suddenly the track owner is being forced to prove the place was safe and the rules were being followed. Its no longer about the unsafe racer and his bullshit line. One civil suit could bankrupt the business or worse if the insurance company didn't pay out. Why should the insurance company pay out if the track wasnt following their rules? They have a lot of lawyers working for them when the rules come up. You can be pretty sure that litigation costs a pretty penny even if there was no clear result.

All true. And a sad testament to the times we live in. Imho.
