i just picked up a 87 gn cranks over, fuel pressure is 40lbs on gauge, but no fire at plug, do you guys have a checklist or method for figuring it out? car has not been started since fall.
thanks steve

Inspect the crank sensor for damage. Also try a noid light on the injectors to see if they are firing. If they are sounds like a module. If not, I would look into the cam and crank sensors.

Check all fuses.

Check to insure that the ECM wire by the battery (orange) is connected.

Make sure that battery is fully charged.

Check the above mentioned.

no spark, inj fire=ign module
has spark, no inj fire=cam sensor or ecm
no spark or no inj fire=crank sensor

More likely you have a problem with either the cam sensor or crank sensor signals into the ignition module.

Check to see that the ignition module has 12v when the key is on and look for varying voltages on the two sensor inputs to the module. You need a DVOM and you need to crank the engine by HAND and watch for the two signals.

Both signals should change between a low of .5-.7 volts to a high of 9-11volts.

The crank sensor toggles 3 times per rev of the crank and the cam toggles once for every 2 revs of the crank.

Don't go throwing parts at it until you KNOW which part is causing the problem.
