Ok, just got back from the track. The place I usually get race gas was out, so I go just to get some 60ft practice. I ran a thrasher92, and 15psi, a used set of ET streets, totally stock suspension. The best I could muster was an 8.82@80mph with a 2.05 60ft. I wasnt expecting a killer ET on pump gas and a thrasher, but it should have run mid 8's anyway. I tried 20psi and worked my way down to 16 on the ET streets and my 60's got worse. Usually a 2-3psi launch. I think I was hooking right off the line and spinning after 4-5feet. I know I was spinning because I got some false knock at 5-10mph on the scanmaster recall. What am I doing wrong here? I burned the hell out of them and I still slip off the line. Any tips or advice appreciated, also, how does that ET look considering the pump gas and slow 60fts? Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post,

pat

Yea, you ever think the track sucked? Been there.

That would be my guess too. No track prep. You should hook alot better than that with those tires.

Yeah, that track does suck, they just opened for test and tune this week, I doubt they prep it. Think that ET is decent for the amount of boost and 60ft?

thanks:)

Poor etz?

It appears that the bone stock suspension is responsible for your problem, or at least a good part of it.

The key is: 'hooking off the line, and spinning after 5'.
This indicates you hit the tires and then the suspension reacted to a point where the tires were unloaded. Thus the spin after launch. Bottom line: the tires did not stay planted.
This could be due to bad shocks, incorrect tire pressure,[tires were acting like a basketball], limited slip not working, etc. I suspect either #1 or 2.
A third possibility was the engine power is down and once the converter flashed when you released the brake, the power level came up too fast for the tires to remain hooked.
I'd video the suspension to determine exactly what is going on.
FWIW, I did alot of test of MT tires and found the ET Streets worked best at 14 to 16psi.

What track are u talkin bout Bama Drag. I never ran on it but i have went on test and tune days and it sucked. My car ran a
8.50@ 85 mph 2.05 60 ft wit crappy street tires and 13 psi. 0 boost launch and as soon as the boost came in in second gear it spun and i had to pat the gas twice.

I'm sure I need some suspension work, its all stock, right down to the stock replacement monroe shocks:rolleyes:. I'm also wondering if i'm making good power, even at 15psi I was hoping for a little better trap speed.

hey atleast i'm not alone!

i ran my car out here in san diego about 3 weeks ago and i was getting the same results. but mine is worst! best time on M/T ET DRAGS 9.4/60ft-2.9/mph 80mph:( i ran it all the way from 14 to 8 lbs on tire pressure still could not hook up! i have 1 bag on the passenger at 20psi still could not hook. i would do a good burn out then clean it off then stage i spun it through 1st 2nd and little bit on third. this is only an eigth mile by the way the size is 28/10.5/15 can somebody help me out here? i have kyb's all around polyurathane all around. my butt end is a little stiff is that ok?seems the front springs are soft. i also found springs from a non turbo v6 regal in the junk yard and yanked out the rear springs, i'll give it a shot and i will take out my front sway bar next time. and also guys i can't hold 3 lbs of boost on the line?  o ya i was running 110 race gas and 18lbs of boost then vacuum poped of and only let me ran 10 lbs and still the same times but a tad bit less spins only a tad.

i ran 8.70@80mph with a 2.08 60ft. that was with a zero boost launch. does your car have stock injectors? if so i'd say that's pretty decent e.t. with 15psi. considering the 60ft. that's prolly in the 13.6-7 1/4 range. not bad for a V6:D

Yes, stock injectors. I thought that was close, wasnt sure about the trap speeds, the car doesnt feel that strong with the thrasher, think it likes a bit more timing;)

I think the Thrasher 92 is only 17*. With stock turbo/injectors, you'd probably be better off with a 20* chip. Or a Thrasher 100.

I have run a best of 7.87 at 89mph with a 1.80 60' on a non-posi rear with 19* and 16# of boost. The ET streets will hook, with prep.I spray mine down in the staging lanes with VHT in a spray bottle when I'm a few cars back so it will soak in.I also run about 13.5# of air in them.I figure with a good 60' like 1.50 I would run around 7.50s on them.I know my sig says I have a posi, but it hasn't been installed yet.Oh,I also run around 27# in a right side air bag and 10# in a left one with southside bars.
