I recently changed the turbo on my car. I went from a PT54 that had been 11.04@121, to a T63E and I have been struggling ever since. Best pass: 11.52@119. leaving at 15lbs. and 24lbs. down the track. I think I could have slowed this car down for a lot less $$$!! Any insight would be greatly appreciated. T.I.A.

What converter are you using stall wise.Might try adding some fuel as the 63 flows more even at the same boost.

I have a Precision Industries 9 1/2", I think it is 3200-3400. I wouldn't think that should be much of a problem since I'm leaving with a trans-brake. I have gone up and down on fuel and boost. None of this seems to be working in my favor. I am running 50#ers and a seventh. According to egt readings and detonation sensor, it seems to be doing the job Is it????. Thanks for the input.

I am not sure.I have a 63 and the same converter and thought I was doing ok.I kept adding fuel last friday at the track and was getting faster each time, though my 60's were still slow because I leave most times with almost no boost.I left one time with a few pounds and went 7.42 @91.xx in the 1/8,my best so far. That was at 21# though.I am still tuning and working on better launches. The 60' on that run was a 1.699 so a 1.5x would have been a 7.2x or a little better maybe,I have run 93 in the 1/8 with a slower et.I believe when I get it all right mine will be running consistent low-low 11s,maybe a 10.9x someday if I get lucky.I still havent pushed it to 24# or launched real hard yet,so I would say I am having no problems.Maybe the chip needs a tweak for spoolup or fuel cuve since there is some flow difference between the 2.

MOOSE-

i wonder if its just something as simple as changing the plugs and 02 sensor to freshin it up?

mine slows down some after about 1 month of racing race gas, so i go ahead and change the plugs right before i go to the track.
how old is the 02?
if its a heated, might want to change it anyway to see if it wakes back up-

24 lbs is in the sweet spot for that turbo

what is your max EGT, who's / whats the chip timing, and what fuel are you using?

try to compare the old time slips to your latest timeslips, and see where the car is falling off...

compare the 1/8th MPH of your old combo to this combo, and see if its close, or where its not picking up...

it does seem to be down on some power, you should have gone faster????

what boost were you running with the pte54?

Hey Bryan, good to hear from you again. I am always real good about keeping fresh plugs in during race season, but I'm glad you mentioned the 02 sensor. I may have very well had my head up my a$$. I do run a heated, and I always change it at the beginning of every season, but I honestly don't remember if I changed it this season. The chip is Joe Lubrants, I THINK 26 or 28 deg., I would have to pull it out to be sure. Fuel is 114 oct. and with that it went 11.04/7.00 with the PT54. I am running the same chip since I bought the 54 and 50#ers. Is it possible this chip won't satisfy the 63??? Again (and very possible) I might be stupid. I'm heading down to Bristol this weekend for the Year One Bristol Bash, any chance you are going to be there?? Thanks alot....Moose.

i wont be able to make it to bristol this year, work is crazy right now, and im taking a 2 week vacation this winter to HAWAII:D

might be able to make it out next year to bristol, but thats a long ways away-

might call Joe L. and see what he says about the current combo to see if it needs more injector duty cycle-

i know ERIC MARSHALL steps up the inj duty cycle when we upgrade turbos.... he might do a little more, im not sure-

do you recall what the max EGT was?

it would be nice if it was something simple as the 02, might just do it and the plugs and see if the car wakes right up and gets you above your other runs...:)

i know my buddy joe had problems like this a few years ago at BG, we changed plugs and 02 sensor and it picked up a few MPH... that was the easiest thing we had to do that week at BG

take er easy, let me know if that fixes your problem, your soon to get a 10 second time slip!!
