I have recently had a new cam sensor, EGR valve and new AC DELCO 02 sensor put on my car. Cam is set right but the o2 sensors seem to go pretty quick. I will get a code once in a while after i reset the computer. Sensor must me about 3 weeks old with barely a tank of gas through it and basicly no miles.

Before it pulls a code for the o2, i will get popping out of my mass air sensor at about 1/4 throttle. MAF seems to be good but i talked to someone and he said he saw that happen when the mass air was going.

Any info will be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Scott

Any ideas. Do you thinks its the mass air, because that would make sense because its telling the computer to give the fuel or 10 g/sec when its really getting 5 or so.

Hey there,

MAF may be a good bet (With the pop) but when did the O2 start failing like this? Was it before you installed the cam sensor or after? Or did you replace the sensor in an effort to get rid of this problem?

I just know the cam sensor controls injector pulse timing, so if it is firing them off at the wrong time, maybe more unburned fuel is finding its way to the sensor, but causing the car to run LEAN because the fuel isn't injected prior to compression (Like just after?)

Just a thought! Also, if it is installed 180 out, it will run like crap too. Because while the spark plugs are fired on the exhaust stroke to burn whatever is left over, it is much weaker than the REAL spark during the power stroke. If you get these reversed, it could be causing problems like this. I inadvertently installed my spark plug wires on the oposite towers (Pretty much simulating a cam sensor in backwards) and it ran, but not well!

Hope I'm not just adding to the confusion though! I don't even know if raw fuel at the O2 sensor will shorten it life! Leaded/Race fuel will kill the sensor though!

Good Luck!

i believe i found the problem. That three way spliter for the vaccum to the ball un the front and the egr valve plus the air vents. I took it out put a tee in it place and put that little blocker in the line to the ball, so under boost it will close but then open for vaccum.

Now today i didn't get anypopping it idles betters and my AF readings at idle are 5-6 and 7-8 in drive.

Thanks for the info but i hope this is the last of my problems.

the car was fine but it is still doing that popping out the maf. I was thinking of putting a heated o2 in so they will cycle faster and last longer. But if that don't help i was wondering is a rebuilt AC DELCO worth it or should i go LT1??

Thanks
Scott

I think I may have the same prob. I have been getting a code 45 on the yellow T. Today the car acted like it had a flooded condition and poped a few times under part throttle. I am down to my last good MAF. I will take it off of the GN and try it. Then I will be going to the LT1 MAF.

ok after you change it out get back to me with what you have found out. because this is driving me crazy try to figure out the problem.

The weather is bad today here in Western NC.. May be tomorrow I can check it out. I will be intouch.

i haven't had a pop out of the mass air for the past two days. it seems to go and come back.

May be I can check it before I leave for Brostol Friday. The weather has been bad every day. I have something going on every evening this week. I will check, it may be a few days.

Are these AC delco O2's? I've heard nightmares about Bosch ones and Standard (STI SG3 and SG5) ones suck balls

Jim,

This is what I was talking about in the e-mail a few days ago.

I currently have a Bosch O2 in the yellow T with the problem. I will install a new AC O2 when I change out the MAF.

Looks like bad weather for the BOP in Bristol.:(
