octane boost ,fact or fiction?

since 93-94 octane fuel is so hard to come by here in Canada I went to the local race fuel supplier today to see what my options were for getting some better fuel. When he hit me with the 8 bucks a gallon price, I thought we would talk about other alternatives. He tells me that the C-5 octane boost claims to raise the octane 6-8 pts. I have tryed 104+ and it did'nt do jack. The only reason I need to do something is because my local gas station no longer carries Sunoco 94 which I ran with o2's at 800mv with 0 kr. Now the nearest station to have 94 fuel is 45 min each way away from me. I do not have an alcohol kit or even know if I'll ever get one , I think the alcohol would go bad before using it up.Running a Reds' chip at 17* boost . Any thoughts?

octane booster in a can is useless. it raises octane about 1/2
point. alcohal injection would be the way to go and i don't
think alcohal goes bad. $8 a gallon for gas is crazy. alcohal
is way cheaper and is only used when you need it.
your only other choice is to mix zylene with your gas to
raise octane. this can get expensive also.

Keep in mind that when they advertise octane boost, "points" do not equal 1 octane number, but rather .1 octane.

Thus a can of "20 point octane boost" for example would raise your octane from 92 to 94... NOT from 92 to 112. A common mistake many, many people make and which is never advertised/described very well on the cans.

You could add 25% Xylene and an ounce or two of marvel mystery oil to the highest unleaded you can get. Mixed with 91, you should get near 97 octane with this mix.

If there is a pioneer station nearby use their 93,it's the same as sunoco 94.Due to suoco advertising policy of =highest octane on the block= off brand stations can'y advertise it as 94 but it is the same gas.Pioneer doesn't have a refinery.
