I just got my tranny rebuilt with all the good stuff and it worked great for awhile. I put a couple thousand miles on it before taking it to the track and was able to pull a few low 11's and high 10's and it never missed a beat.

The car then sat all day on Saturday. On Sunday I took it to go get a bite to eat and while i was sitting at a stop light it started making this hidious whine. When I gave it gas, it just reved. Lost all gears including reverse. So I push it off to the side and turn it off. I then start it and it goes into gear and works fine. I drive a block and same problem. I'm able to get it home by turning the car off and then starting it back and it works for about a block...get the sound...and then it goes again.

What could this be?

TIA,
Kev :)

sounds like something is coming undone and clogging the filter .when yiu shut off the engine the debris is not being sucked into the screen so it allows you to drive a short distance before clogging filter again.www.ckperformance.com

I would agree with Chris

it drainsback into pan, then sucks it back up clogging filter. Whine you hear is lack of oil or air in suction. Drop pan, report.

Have finals this week but will get on it Thursday evening probably.

Thanks again,
Kev :)

OK so I FINALLY got to pull the pan. There didn't seem to be anything totally obvious and the fluid still looked new.

It has the PTS shallow aluminum pan and bottom feeder sump. The filter had a little crap on it but nothing huge.

Any ideas?

Kev :)
