I am using the stock GN whell on my 86 GN and have 275/50/15's mounted on them, going to be MT DR soon. I have some rubbing when I turn or put a heavy load in the car. My question is what would be the minuim spacer to clear the frame and the maximum spacer before the tire hits the body? Question number two. Can a spacer be put on the front wheels to bring them out and what would the effects be?
Thanks gentlemem and ladies

With a 7" stock wheel, you could go to about 3/4" spacer before the tire gets close the lip. 3/8" will keep the tires off the frame, but will need longer studs.

In front, you can space out the front wheels up to an inch, depending on tire size and the effect would be not really noticeable. Maybe a little better handling/road feel, maybe a little more "darting when braking" feeling.

an alluminum drum will also give you a little more clearance in the rear as they are thicker. it helped me cause i used to rub on turns.
