Oil fliter O-ring stuck in pump...

that o-ring that goes around the filter in the pump seems to be stuck.. i cant get it out.... every time i try to pull it out it breaks apart a little more...

any suggestions?

I use a long skinney dull screwdriver. Have also used a small allen wrench held by vicegrips. Goes without saying,--don/t scratch the bore.

well, the pump is out of the car, so will that make it any easier to get out?

O-ring remover

The best tool that I've found to get those oil filter rings out is a paint can opener. Seems to be angled just right to grip it and not scratch the o-ring bore. Ace Hardware gives them away.

Leave it to Clay to have the best idea's!!!

But if you can't find the can opener.... More often then not you can get it with a screwdriver, don't try to gouge it out, just try to pry it. It should roll-over in the bore then you can grapit.

Don't pull it down....push one side up. That side goes up and you can now grab it easily.
