Hello,

Here is the deal: I bought my car and have yet to drive it (needed some work). It came with an adjustable wastegate but I am hesitant to put it on. I dont want to run too much boost on it's maiden voyage.

Here is the question: I want/will use the stock wastegate but there is oil in the diaphragm. What if anything can I use to clean it out? Carb Cleaner? Brake Cleaner???

If I am screwed and can't clean it, I will use the adjustable one.

Here is another question that has been asked a zillion times. On an adjustable, the longer the rod, the less boost? and visa versa? If I have to I will line up the two and maybe make the adj. a bit shorter.

Thanks guys (and gals if any)

Bill

I wouldn't use carb. or brake cleaner on the wastegate.

Longer is less boost, lower.

Shorter arm is more boost.

Clean the outside off with carb. cleaner on a rag or alky. or acetone. Watch out for the labels if you need or want them on there. ;)

A little oil won't hurt anything if it's dripping oil I'd look into getting the adjustable one repaired.
