The shaft is a bit loose. nothing to worry about. If it's alot of play then yes needs new bearings.

Same propblem

I have the oil leak behind the turbo. Had the 84 WH1 for 2yrs and the turbo has already been upgraded. This spring I notice white smoke behind my ride when I gas it. I'm pretty sure it only happens when the turbo kicks in. What should I do? Change the gasket or gaskets on the turbo?

I would change both, grommet&tube gasket.

Over years it gets crappy, doesn't seal well. As for the Drain tube gasket(to turbo) 1$ for a new gasket. I would dab a little (orange) RTV on it.

With all this tho It's BEST IMO, to change the metal hose(drain tube) and get an adaptor. There are some on Ebay(turbo Drain adpators) which you can use your own HD hose&fitting. I would steer you towards gbodyparts. They has a nice kit for 50$.

I can't find the damn site that sold the grommet but here is the GM part # 25504235 you might have luck at NAPA ?? or find a site that sells it.

You can order it from GM but they get it from discontinued supplier.

I think? If i'm reading the post brad posted right, about the member getting the grommet from GM.

if not the gen grommet looks just as good IMO.

So after weeks of searching ive finally located an OEM drain grommet. The internet was worthless, a buick dealership had the part for me with in 2 days , i guess they do stock these somewhere.
