Oil pressure and the turbo

Wondering how much oil pressure is too much for the turbo?

Me thinks I have blown a seal(s) in mine. :frown: Car is smoking at startup, sparkplugs are clean, intercooler is clean as well as the TB. Right at 1000 miles on the turbo. Car runs strong, only smokes at startup.

Cold start up idle 80 psi. 60-70# at cruising speeds. Over 90#s at WOT.

Typically on journal bearing turbos we would not recommend running higher than 85psi or else the oil seal will fail. Same with dual ball bearing turbos except they do not have an oil seal like the journal bearing cousins. They just pour out oil.
If it's a journal bearing and you have repeatedly run over 85psi, it's toast and needs a rebuild. It could probably still be run for awhile, but it's only a matter of time for that oil seal to start coming apart and wrecking havoc on the internals then you will have a real mess on your hands when the turbine wheel breaks and decides to leave the chra at terminal velocity. From the looks of it, it's probably the turbine wheel side oil seal and the oil is going into the turbine housing.
