oil pressure drop&stuck on 30psi

a friend of mine got in his car after a brief shut down and ot started tapping.cheched oil pressure only 30 psi cold or hot and now the gauge stays at about 30 psi even when the car is off.any ideas?

its probably the sending unit. pull it out and clean it up. if he has a mechanical gauge, check the gauge for anything that looks weired.
