Wanted to drive the Turbo-t today, started the motor and notice a funny noise

was coming form the turbo. I checked the oil pressure, ZERO PRESSURE:eek:,

and turn the motor off immediately. Next thing I did was disconnect the turbo

feed line, removed the cam sensor and installed the priming tool with drill to

start the trouble shooting. When I began priming the pump, oil flowed slowly

from the turbo feed line and it didnt feel like that there was no loading on

drill even after five minutes of priming.

The funny thing was that it ran fine the day before. Oil pressure was at 65-80

psi cold and 25-45 warm. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It's probably a stuck pressure regulator or a oil gallery plug has popped out. Check the regulator first by removing the big bolt on the side of the filter housing. (1"wrench size). Pull the spring out and then check to make sure the valve moves freely. If the valve is stuck open, the bolt will probably fly out like a bullet. If not that then either the oil pick up tube has fallen/broken off, or one of the front oil gallery plugs has popped out.

Checked the oil pressure regulator, spring looks good and valve moves

smoothly;). Check the oil pick up, drop the pan partly because of the engine

girdle did not have any space to remove it completely but I could see that the

pick up tube looked tight and secure;). Lastly I checked the oil galley plug.

When I started to remove the harmonic balancer, it broke into three

pieces:eek:. The oil slinger plus crank seal on the cover got a bit

trashed:eek:but the oil plugs were still in place;). Is it possible for the no

pressure reading is because of this? Well, I will keep you up date when I get

it all button up and spin the oil pump with the drill to see if there is any

pressure.

I did not take the mannifold off as of yet. That would be the next thing to

check if I still do not have any oil pressure.

Prob a stupid question, but is the cam gear shear pin intact? In other words, did the gear stay on the cam sensor when you pulled it out to prime?

you could shear the roll pin to the cam sensor gear and the cam sensor would be out but the oil pump would still be driven

check that the oil filter hasnt collapsed

and is this a billet roller cam ? possibly sheared the dist gear key

The pin is still there and the cam gear on the the cam sensor is on solid. I will

use a new oil filter when I get everthing put together and drive test for oil

pressure with my priming tool and drill.

I'm having the problem with no pressure also. The only difference is this happened after a blown head gasket.Your thread has gave me alot of things to look for.

Good to know that this thread is helping other board members. I am still

waiting on my front timing cover crank seal to come in but when it arrives

and everythings installed, I will update on the results.;)

Probably caused by head gasket material clogging the oil pick up screen. Pull the pan and clean it off. If you ever blow a head gasket into the lifter valley, you MUST pull the oil pan and clean the screen off.

Finally got the timing cover installed, disconnected the oil line from the turbo

and started priming the pump with my oil pump on my high speed drill. S---

!!!! Same results like the last time. Oil dripping out slowly with

occasionally sputtering like soda syrup is ruining low on the soda dispenser.

I think I will take down the whole pan before I start taking apart the top half.

Just to make sure that there is no doubt that there is any problems between

the engine block to oil pick up.

Can anybody give some sugestion on taking the pan down with a rjc

gridle and deep oil pan. It is a bit tight under there. Any help is appreciated.
