Attempt #1: Put pump cover on with light coat of gasket maker- Leaks oil!

Attempt#2: Put pump cover on with new gasket and no gasket maker- Leaks oil!

Attempt#3: Put pump cover again with no gasket maker but made sure all surfaces were clean and dry- leaks still!

#4 Ordered new gaskets, waiting for them.

Question: Should I try alot of gasket maker, no gasket maker, some? I'm using Permatex "Form A Gasket" sealant #1.

Note: I see no cracks or warpage on the cover or where it bolts to. The oil is coming from where the gasket is in different areas. I'm buying the gaskets from Poston and they are very thin black paper/plastic. Anyone know of any better source for higher quality gaskets?

Be sure to use thread sealer on the bolt holes that are not blind. And Corteco makes a great front cover gasket that has a thin rubber coating on it that seals very well. PN 14266

Check it for flatness......I had one do that, aftermarket front cover,POS.

You could try aluminum spray paint on both sides of the gasket, then install, this could work!.

Well I ordered more gaskets, some better Fel-Pro ones. Hopefully they are better than the thin ones from Poston...

Remember the thicker the gasket the LOWER your oil PSI will be and more likely the need for a total rebuild will be. End play is .002-.003 not .006 like books say and check that cover for flatness, been there done that. :)

Some gaskets are .007-.010 thick be careful.

For some reason my brain translated this into "front cover leaks" when I read this earlier. I was preoccupied. Sorry for the off topic post.
