Oil Pump Upgrade.. YES or NO??

Hey all... I am going to be replacing my TIMING CHAN this weekend and was wondering if i should consider an upgrade to a HIGHER VOLUME OIL PUMP while I am there. I have a STOCK 87 GN with STOCK TURBO. THe car will EVENTUALLY be a low 12's car possibly 11's (Yeah Baby). I bought the car a few weeks ago and it is ALL STOCK.

Also, if you all have an other ideas on parts that should be considered please let me know.

In my opinion , if the oil press is good and the gear housing is not scored up bad , i would re use , but would install a new Meling steel thrust plate. It gets sanwiched between the cover and the oil filter adapter. It gives you a fresh smooth surface for the gears to ride against. Mine was like this on my stock motor stock front cover and got great oil pressure even hot.

Dont forget to replace the cam button with a new roller bearing unit.The factory is nylon i believe.
