no trick to it, do not have to pack the pump or fill a cooler line with oil, a chevy prime tool will fit perfect. turn it clockwise and it will prime in about 5 - 10 seconds and then the drill will bog down as the pressure cranks up.
problems can mean the wrong gasket between the filter adapter to front cover, or filter not in place or tight - after that it can be a bigger issue like no plugs in the oil galley
