So I took the car for a drive and it shot oil ALL over the drivers side of the engine! What would cause this?

I've only seen this once and it was because of bad rings. Engine did fine at idle but when you reved the engine up it blew oil out the dipstick. Do a compression test and a leak down test to verify the cylinders are ok.

Whats weird is it never did it before the turbo went bad, but now its doing it with a brand new turbo. and its been sitting for 5 years.

If it was sitting for 5 years lots of things can happen. Rings can seize up ect. The old turbo may have not been working right either. Like I said, start with a compressoin test and go from there.

I have personally experianced this a few times. In a couple of cases it was a blown head gasket popped into the intake valley and in a couple of others there was piston damage. But detonation was very severe on the piston damage occasion running verey high boost. There could be a strong possibility of ring damage oil from a bad turbo lowers octane and causes detonation. As Charlie said do a compression test to see which cylinder is down record the readings and re-post. Either way the cylinder head has to come off. Good luck.

x3 on the compression test. Just went through the blown head gasket into the lifter valley on a buddy's GN....blew a quart of oil out both breathers and the dipstick tube.
