Oil???

Anyone have any idea why i would have oil under the carpet on the drivers side? I was ripping up the carpet to assess some rust and found the insulation under the carpet on the drivers side (front only) was soaked with oil. I don't have a mechanical oil guage, so thats not it. Anyone got any ideas??

My only guess is that the previous owner put oil down there to prevent rust. At least i hope thats the problem.

do you have hydroboost or powermaster brakes?

if you have hydroboost i bet it's power steering fluid.there's a seal that can go bad and leak fluid down the firewall and inside the car.

i believe it is the powermaster brakes..they are the ones that run off the power steering? It looks like a not turbo power brake setup, but with only a resevoir. Its an 85 GN.
