Greeting all ,

just spent the last 1/2 hour tiring to remove the passenger side valve cover, It just will not clear .

What am I missing?

It can be a b*tch! If I remember correctly there was a bracket or two in the way that I removed and then I had to tilt the cover up can't remember which end and then tugged on it to get it out. Had a heck of a time putting it back on with the new gasket on it! I was thinking maybe a stamped steel cover would go on easier...but then they don't look a good as the aluminum ones. Good luck!

Only a half hour? ;)

Sometimes you have to turn the crank a bit to get the cover to clear the firewall. If you are stuck now, try to rotate 180 degrees. You might also want to take off that metal shield protecting the heater box. I didn't have to rotate my engine, but I did remove that darn shield and I managed to get it out. You kind of have to tilt it toward the driver's side and wiggle it out.

Gently bend the metal coolant lines up toward the center of the engine

I tried that. Man and to top it off, the felpro gaskets do not fit 100% proper so I had to squeeze the into the channel of the Valve cover and let them "take a set" Drivers side was less of a pain in the butt , but still.....

I am a man of God , But this car is really testing me . I am mad:mad:

Went to yank the oil pan that would budge because some moron (Me) used form a gasket sealer when I assembled the engine. So installed new bolts and snugged it down. She is still on blocks so I can check for leaks.

When this engine comes out , I going to give to my son in-law so he can take to the artillery range and put a 120MM shell though it :D

It actually went back easier. Yes, I am just as surprised

How come it's easier to pull these engines than replace parts on them ?

My Father is right, the older you get the less patients you have (well for me anyhow) & you hurt more after work on the car .
