I've owned a 1995 Ford Powerstoke, 2001 and 2003 Dodge Cummins diesels and now own a 2005 Chevy Duramax/Allison. Looking back the Cummins had a crap ton of low end torque but the power curve fell off too fast for me. The Ford was a first year PS and was just ok, the Chevy IMO has it all over the other 3 trucks with comfort, power, and overall good package. I had the Dodge's bombed as well as currently have the Chevy and for pulling my 25' enclosed car tailer the Chevy is a much nicer to pull long distances with. My 2003 Dodge 1 ton SRW had a soft suspension that sagged real bad onto the overloads with not much weight...the chevy barely touches the overloads...even with 2.1 tons in the bed. The Allison is one bad ass tranny and as long as it's around I'll never own another stick diesel...too much rowing in town.

"NCTURBOS", the reason I bought an '08 is exactly that...the fact that there is supposed to be a lot of problems associated with the 6.0 engine and several people including a few mechanics working at Ford dealers who told me to stay away from them. So I'm getting an '08 with the new 6.4 engine and just hope it'll be good and reliable!
As for my comment on Dodge trucks, I apologize to you and all others here who has one... I admit I've should have thought before saying this that I might offend some...but believe me, this was not my intention to insult anyone...my mistake :frown:, again sorry!
Last, I have no intention of racing anyone with my new truck. I bought it to be more a workhorse to get me wherever I want to go than beating another truck at a stoplight, so as long it has ample power to pull my 22 ft. enclosed trailer, that's all I'm asking for...
Thanks,

Claude ;)

C.,

I'm just busting you chops... :D I'm all about fun and games. No harm caused or meant...

Got to love that 2-3 shift with a locked converter, huh.;) Have you replaced your trannys input shaft already ?

Roy,

The tranny is stock for now... I just installed Opie's MITUSA pump and here soon will be getting some shafts and the drum from him. I'm still up in the air on the converter though, but leaning towards a multi-disk from Precision. This is why the Redline box stays out of eye-sight for the time being... ;)

Roy, reading your post was like poetry! Definately put a smile on my face. 01 3500 cummins here. (silver!) I too made it through the 60 months and am glad its over, still feel good about my truck, don't think I would feel the same with any other make. Now,I'm ready for some more mods and an a few more stop light encounters.;)

I personally like the power, ride and features of my 6.0 Ford. I have had a couple issues with it but I run it HARD. You definately need to put head gaskets and good studs on them. The other issue is the trans, you have to get a good programmer that increases lin pressure or the trans will blow up on a modded truck. I have about 65k on mine now and I have had the trans rebuilt at 35k and put the upgraded head gaskets and ARP studs in it at 45k and I beat the hell out of it now with no problems. The thing I like best about the Fords is that they will to fast, no flat spots and I think they lok the best out of the three. My truck shifts at 5000 rpms it has a very broad HP and TQ curve.

P.S. Roy,I bet the sound of the "whistler" is alot better sound to wake up to than the sound of a 70 Olds Cutlass crashing a dumpster through a fence!!
