So far, I've done the following mods: Walbro GSS340m Fuel pump+hotwire kit, 9" k+n, solid MAF pipe, Adjustable fuel press. reg., hooker cat-back exhaust, adjustable waste gate(not installed yet because i have no clue how to use it properly), a-pillar mounted boost guage, volt booster, and a thrasher chip for 92 octane and stock injectors. any idea what i should do next? i might add that these mods took me over a year to accumulate because of financial restrictions... any advice would be appreciated.

spend a little more $$ and get a scan tool....then go out and tune the hell out of what you have and see if you can beat Tim Stockwell's times.....................

ok, thanks. Is there any chance that there's one for sale on the message board? If not, where can I find one? By the way, what were Tim Stockwell's times?

You can get a scanmaster used for about $200, new are $250. The fuel mods you did are the most important and best to start out with. So if you plan to use that adj actuator, you need the scan tool to moniter knock and O2s/fueling. Adjusting the wg actuator in/shortening it increases the boost about 1 psi per full revolution.

I would max out your stock combination before upgrading turbos. You could run solid 12s with the stock parts, good tune, race gas, higher boost, and good tires/60' times. Stay with 15 lb boost or less on pump gas. Using that scan tool and learning your car, you can eventually run higher boost on the race fuel and a reasonably priced Thrasher race chip (I saw you were using one now).

When you say 15 pounds of boost, where exactly is that number taken from? at WOT? At launch? at it's highest point? Sorry for all the questions, but i really want to learn as much as possible before actually getting out there.

My brother's 86 Ttype ran 17psi boost on pump gas with less than 1.5* of knock with the exact same combo. BTW- He ran 13.60's with 2.2 60ft's on BFG 255radials (not Drag Radials), some good race gas, and about 19psi boost.

Also if the vacumm line comes off the wg actuator does this mean that you run max boost, or no boost is bled?

Hope this helps,
Ryan

Well, here is where we all begin to vary in opinion and advice. Some of what I've read above I can easily dispute or give proof of other results. It just all seems to depend on more factors than we can easily accumulate and be able to compare apples to apples. I would agree however, the stock turbo will take you plenty far. I ran 11.90's @ 17-18psi with mine in Houston, but had other upgrades to compliment it. However, I did my own headwork, which in size was minimal at best. I had 36# injectors and a BGC stretch stock location intercooler. If you want the whole list, you can shoot me an email. My point is; you've done the first most important thing by upgrading the fuel system. Now that you've got the pump, I would look for a good used set of 36# injectors. They're readily available on Turbo-Trader for very reasonable prices. I would also suggest putting a shift kit in the tranny to prolong its life! That's another cheap upgrade. I don't know why anyone was suggesting only 15psi of boost. The factory setting is 13, and you've done enough to allow for more than 15psi safely. My street standard setting was usually 17psi, as long as I was not knocking, and I live in a morbidly hot climate. Now, this is where you at the very least need an internal knock detector or some sort of scan tool I highly recommend Direct Scan from John Chu, if you have a laptop to run it on. It's by far the best available. Once you've set your baseline parameters, you don't have to run with it hooked up, unless you're out making more changes. Anyway, I could go on and on here, but this is my initial suggestion list, per your query.
Best wishes...

Ryan: I hope the times you've posted are meant as some sort of distorted joke! I used to run 13.50's with my old 86 T-Top GN, which had a "peg-leg" rear end in it, and hardly a single mod. If these are truly yours and your brother's best ET's, then it's time to re-evaluate your game plan and start talking to some folks for serious performance advice. I mean, c'mon,,, you don't want to make our beautiful hot rods look as if they can be beaten by a Honda with a coffee can and topfuel dragster wing on the tail,,, do you? ;)

You didn't post mileage, and I should practice what I preach... how about valve springs and timing gears/chain?

to answer the question about the vacuum hose comming off the WG actuater, that will lead to max boost.....bad thing....happened to me once, i saw 20 psi at half throttle....
