I have one of the old SMC kits and it has worked flawless since I bought it. My problem is I think it may be outdated compared to the newer kits, is this true? I only run 20-22 lbs of boost with it. What gains can be had with razors kit? I see they are progressive, that means to me they come on slow as opposed to the smc I have that is there all at once. Please fill me in on this and if its worth upgrading my kit. I paid $280 for it when they first came out and was on a waiting list for awhile. Man times have changed. Thanks for any help and the only reason Im asking is because after paying $4.89 for 111 to run a race chip Im stickin with the alky that was only for the street before.

Please

Both alkycontrol & smc are legit companies. I hate these pac vs smc threads. It always leads to hard feelings. Do your research. You have to give all companies an equal chance to let you know what updates they have. PAC is awesome. Dont know anything about smc. Do your research. Good luck!

If you run 20-22 PSI boost and dont have any drivability issues. Then keep using what you have.

Biggest difference is trying to run really high boost or high alcohol volumes. This is when the progressive controllers shine. For 20-22 PSI on a stock motor.. not a whole lot of alcohol is needed.

Yes newer changes and updates to systems allow methanol which is cheaper vs denatured. Both my company and SMC now allow methanol.

I dont think there is any data on a stock motor running low boost fixed vs progressive. And the debates center around these types of engines. After installing both types of systems, I got away from fixed pressure since the alcohol transition became seemless with the progressive. One neat advantage to progressive was the use of a 3 bar MAP that would continually keep adding higher and higher pressure of alcohol if the boost changed/creeped/spiked. Like if you tuned to 20 PSI.. then one day boost jumped to 25 PSI due to a WG malfunction. There would be additional delivery.

On higher powered motors.. yes.

Thanks for the help. I didnt want to get into the this vs that but just needed more insight, Ive been out of the alky thing for awhile and need to get back into it.
