hello; I know I talked about this before and members have said they do it all the time. Well I just started with paying bills on line and the gas co. wants $2.50 to process my bill and the elec. does not. Is there a way to do without the fee for on line billing or is it that some do and some don't?

Depending on what bank you use. Some banks will process your bills for you for free if you have the right account. I think they will even mail a check if that is the only way to get it there... Bank of America does this....

Are you using the gas company's web site to pay the bill? Then yes, most utilities charge a "convenience fee" for that. you should be able to use online bill pay with your bank, they will mail a physical check to them - no fee.

i use online bill pay for everything. Not only so I save a stamp, but the hassle over addressing and mailing the envelopes.

Time Warner here has a $1.00 extra charge for mail in bills while free for online...
