The 84/85 coil pack is no longer made. The 84/85 coil module is and it costs $600 from Postons. It is cheaper to convert to the 87 coil pack and 87 coil module. The upgrade is worth it.

If you want to upgrade this is how you do it. First buy a coil base adapter from Postons or Caspers. This is an aluminum bracket which attaches to the stock 85 ignition bracket. This allows you to attach the 87 ign coil module to the adapter. Next, you need an adapter to convert the 85 ignition wiring to the 87 ignition coil module. Caspers sells these. Next you need an 87 coil module, plastic adapter plate and 87 coil pack. Give me a call tomorrow at 847-836-5800. I am working all day. Sometimes spoken words are easier than typed. Brad

Great description!
Minor correction;
If you change to the 87 module, you need the module adapter plate and wire adapter to the 87 module. You than need to use the 87 coil.

If you use the HA module, you do not need the module adapter plate or the adapter wire. But you DO need the "coil to module adapter plate" because the 87 coil is smaller and will not fit on the larger HA module.

I know for a fact it was a typo as Brad has already done this. ;)

Ok but see i already got a coil for the car and a addapter plate from my parts store. So why wouldent that Accel coil work with the addapter plate i ordered?

Which adapter plate? The one for the coil?
Which coil? The smaller "87 coil"?

Edit:
Actually it will.
The Accel coil will work with the coil adapter plate.
That is all you should need if you are not changing the module.

Ya the plate bolts to the Model and the coil bolts to the plate i already put it on and it works great.

won't he also need to get 2 more of the "87" style coils?
If he has my luck, he'll need 3!!

Kosonen,
Glad you got it fixed.
Hope it solved the problem!

The Accel is a good coil. There is no performance gain with it.
If yours is working, I wouldn't spend the money on one yet.

So there really wouldent be any point in geting one? Would i see anything if i put it on

Not really, it's just a good replacement option.
It's the same as OEM / Magnavox style.
I've run one for years, they are good coils.
