One of the fastest street cars ever?

Of all the street car videos i have seen on the internet none even come close to the acceleration of this car. Its an ae86 carolla with a 20b rx-7 motor in it pushing like 600hp. In the video they are already crusing at highway speeds and when he hits it hes out of sight in seconds. If anyone knows anything else about this car please post the info. Its amazing!!gotta love those crazy japanese people.

Yes, that was very fast, but take a comparable american car, say a 600ish rwhp camaro, and try the same things, and it will look about the same. The camera car didn't appear to accelerate at all....

LAME! He's out of sight in seconds but you can only see 100' in front of the car due to poor video.

thats not BS those motors can make some insane power and if you think about it, that car weights probably about 2,200 pounds you do the math ..

That video has been around a while and it is thought to be manipulated to look a little faster..... but a mid 80's Corolla is about 2200lbs and a 600hp+ 20B would certainly make it scoot (9 second potential).

My friend has a 20B built by Pineapple racing and is still getting parts to bolt on to the shortblock.... but it is supposed to make 600rwhp on pump gas.... and 800-1000hp on race gas with large single turbo! Has been gathering parts for over 2 years.....

His is a large street port and the shortblock was $12K!!!!! He still needs turbo manifold/turbo/injectors/fuel management/dry sump parts.

I got a ride in another friends 20B powered FD (RX-7) this weekend and with only 6-8psi the car breaks the tires loose in 2nd from a roll! When finally tuned at 15psi on pump gas the car should be really scary. They are the king of rotary motors... but suffer from the same weaknesses like all boosted rotaries.... apex and coolant seal failures often under high performance applications with any detonation.

I respect the rotary... but don't trust its reliability.

I remember seing a video where these kids (early 20's) were toying with an older fellow (maybe mid 30's) in a Vette. The kids wanted to race and he kinda blew them off and then he decided to punch it and it took off like that.

Looks fishy but it also looks like they(camera car)sped up with the 600hp car.I think its real.600+hp and 2200lbs=deadly fast

One thing that I can understand,even with the language barrier,those guys are fools..

The Vette your talking about was racing some ricers in a 13 second DSM.That was the fastest steet driven car ive seen besides Supra's.
