Are there ANY downsides to having an open dump pipe?!? I just put one in a test pipe that took the place of my cat...I want to run an open dump, but I also don't want to hurt my car!!!

Dad, like any other dad, said that the car would need SOME back pressure, but I explained to him that on a turbo car...the turbo IS the back pressure, and that as long as you used a downpipe, anything after it was just restricting the car...WAS I CORRECT IN SAYING THIS?!? I don't want to harm my car in anyway, but DAMN...does it sound COOL:D

Thanks - John

Thanks boostx...

Anyone else agree...I'd like to know from a couple of people, you know...to kinda confirm that we all agree...

Thanks - John

No downsides on a turbo car. Some guys who like it loud run sans mufflers(just straight pipes) and they do fine as well.

dump pipe

I agree.I just put a dump pipe on my car and I love it. I put one of Mark Hueffman's electric exhaust cutouts on mine. The good thing about it is that you can open and close it from inside the car, no crawling under the car anymore. I also got one of his ashtray switch panels to hide the new toy I mean switch I have to play with. This electric exhaust cutout is great because you can adjust how much the flange is open making it louder or quiter an the flick of a switch. Good if your cruising and come up on a police car.
 here is the link to his website http://www.buickgn.com/
