Operating temps?

What is the normal operating temperature range for a car with a 160deg thermostat. My car stays around 160 until boosted hard, then climbs to around 180 & wants to stay there awhile. Just wanted to make sure this is safe.

I have dual fans and my car rarely sees 180 even in 100 degree weather. Once the fans kick on, the temp comes down pretty quickly.

What's the temperature range sitting at idle (after engine been hot on the road) for some time and also in slow city traffic (with the red light stops etc).

Just need some reference points as I had the S hose blow off making it boil so carefully keeping an eye on it all now after I got it back on the road.

Mine cools down to 168 sitting in the garage idling. Original radiator and fan. This was from this weekend, temps in the 70s here.

Some people like to see their car at 170 or below no matter what, others are fine with 190ish and under. What temp are you at?

Im running 160 to 180. Stock rad and fan jus pulled thermostat. Cheap yes!

Since I started this thread over a year ago, I have since replaced the original radiator with a parts store f-body and dual fans. My temps now stay right at 170 degrees through the 1/4mi.
