I'd like to get my girlfriend a nice car. Although there's nothing wrong with the one she has right now, I'd like to "spoil" her a little more for being such an exceptional person to me... I'd like her to have a not-too-large car, but loaded with all the "bells and whistles" you can ask for... I'm leaning towards a Lincoln MKZ ('07-'08)...What do you guys think?...Would it make a good daily driver for her? I think it's just the right size, looks great (she likes them), and I think it has a good reliability record, being based on the Ford Fusion...
Any opinions?...

Thanks,

Claude.

Sounds like a BJ on wheels to me. I think they are sporty, classy and very plush.

Hey Claude how are you doing? Been awile since I've spoken with you sir! Anyways to answer your question on the MKZ. They are great cars! I worked for Ford for 6 years before moving to the Chevrolet dealership I am at now. The only reason I left ford was the dealership went under.....Imagine that! They are a wonderful car. I will tell you though if given the oppurtunity you may consider adding an extended warranty. The Lincolns have alway been high dollar cars to work on. To give you an example on the LS's we would see some ball joint issues and you couldn't service them so we would have to replace the whole lower control arm. Another one was window regulators on almost all of them were threw the roof! Just food for thought. You are correct though about the platform. Probably one of the best ford has come out with in a few years. I did call a buddy of mine who works down the street at a ford/lincoln/mecury store to ask him if there are any inherient problems but he hasn't called me back yet. I will let you know!

Thanks "GNBRETT" and "buttonfly" for your replies...but:

1˚, "GNBRETT", what's a "BJ on wheels"...??

2˚, "buttonfly", good to talk to you!...I'm not sure if I'll be able to get an extended warranty since I'm not going to buy it new... As for the lower ball joint problem on the LS's, well, all I can say is that I also have an '02 Thunderbird (see my signature...), which is built on the same platform as the LS and haven't had a problem with them.
Still, I thank you for calling your friend to ask him about potential problems...

Thank you,

Claude.

Well, I DO buy her flowers every now and then...and another TB would surely be fun but might not be ideal here in Canada to drive all year round...

I forgot to mention in my previous posts about the MKZ that I'd probably get one that has AWD...

Claude.

My co worker bought one and we went out to lunch in it the other day. They are very nice, with a rear view camera and heated rear seats.

If my mom wanted a car, I'd tell her to look at those.

My Dad just gave back his lease and got a Jag. VERY nice classy car! They wanted too much to buy it so he upgraded a little further is all. Not one spot of trouble in two years. I didn't buy my Wife a new car till after a few years of marriage. I'd think about it, maybe in your name if she's a keeper. There'll be a New car in the future to make even better.

Buy the car, keep it in your name and let her drive it. That way you're covered.:p
