Hello folks, I am new here, in fact this is my first post. Picked up an 87 GN about a month ago. This is a picture of my engine details. Original owner tells me it the original motor. It doesn't have the SG1 markings nor does it have the number 4 cast in it like the one on GNTType.org. It does have the proper vin format stamped ant it matches the transmission, window vin, trunk RPO label and door jamb labels. Build date for the car is 11/86. I sure hope this is the original motor.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Curt

A sg1 is a stock replacement engine . That appears to be the right block for a stock 87 gn . They are all 109 blocks .

It is the correct block casting. If the vin # stamped on the block matches the car I'd tell you it's the original motor.
