WOW!

That front set don't look anything like G-Body mats.

Good storyteller.

I emailed the seller, here is his reply to my email.

there were 2 (maybe more?) styles of OEM mats, the all rubber and the
deluxe(carpet and Rubber inserts). These ARE OEM .
I picked up the car NEW.
I have confirmation from EXPERTS that these are indeed original and rare. I
would prefer you reserve your expert judgement ( by declaring them
"aftermarket' unless you would like to share your proof with the rest of
us.)
I'm glad you found a set of what you are happy with. Chances are they are
the somewhat common B-34 (front) B-35 (rear) floormats, if indeed original
(many repos made)
Do you really think I would pick such a forum, loaded with GN experts, and
try to represent "aftermarket mats as originals?
If you recall reading the ad, I approached most of the large "aftermarket"
dealers (pics included)about information as to the value of said mats.
It was based on their offers and comments that I made the decision to offer
the mats to the public. Remember $.01 starting bid, reduced reserve (from
actual offers)?
Those in the know will bid and dictate the price.
I am representing the mats with the truth about the origins, and my
knowledge of the mats. My ad makes NO other claims other than that, or what
i just wrote here.
I also offered anyone (you included) to show me where to find originals
(same mat) in this condidtion. I WILL remove the reserve if they(you) can.
(send link)
If you think they are aftermarket, did they only make one set? My experience
with the aftermarket is that there are MANY more produced than the
originals. (i went thru 10 sets myself)
good luck and enjoy your new (original) mats

No way are those OEM, from the shape, they don't even look like they would fit a G-body.

NOW, this is NOT saying these weren't available in the LeSabre Grand National...looks like they could fit a front driver.

ARE PEOPLE UNINFORMED ENOUGH TO BUY THEM?

Looks like another Honors graduate of the P.T. Barnum Institute of Salesmanship.

He did not name the TR/GN experts he consulted...wonder why!

Bet ya Kirban would know...or Jay Frick...or John Pearcy.

Cheesy-looking mats.

i think maybe he "thinks" they are original.

maybe the dealer was selling these aftermarket ones in the buicks. i would presume dealers would try to put different things in the cars, to make them look different but still have stock appearance like floormats?

i mean look at this.... every low mile car kirban gets , he puts in aftermarket ones and keeps the originals? i bet there is a slew of aftermarket ones that have been created over the past 16+years I know i was 12years old when my car was built. i doubt i have seen even 15% of the aftermarket things that were out for this car in the 80's.

I am going with NON FACTORY BUT MAYBE DEALER INSTALLED.

and can we have the names and e-mail's of these co-called "EXPERTS" who state this is correct?

I still have my originals in 30K mile condition...what this guy is sellin' ain't them!

He is selling more then mats,if you know what i mean......

GM threw 85 mph speedometers and no "real" gauges in our cars. (the boost/tach doesn't count  ) Think they would put any special effort into floor mats?:D Looks like maybe a dealer threw these in the car and the guy thought they were original.

The most plausable explanation I've heard so far is that they're POSSIBLY LeSabre Grand National mats since the size and shape are completely inconsistant with G-body regals. They do look like they'd fit in a front wheel drive car. So maybe some dealer needed to put floor mats in a 1987 GN and had those lying around and thought "what the hell". There's no way on God's green earth those are made for a G-body Regal.

speaking of OEM, my car came origionally with pen stripes but ive never herd of another gn with pen stripes. marshall, goes by marshallcash on this site, has my cars window sticker to prove it. how uncommon is that option on a gn?

Your window sticker has pin stripes listed as an option? How about your RPO code sticker in the trunk, that list the pin stripe option? Got a digital camera or scanner so we can see this anomaly?

marshall has the window sheet so im only going by his word but whats the rpo code for the pin stripes? ill go look if its listed and then if it is ill take a picture of the rpo code and the car its self. you can still actually see the outline of the stripes on the paint where the paint crackled around them.

infact he just pmed me, he found some of the paper work and old pictures so thats a good sign:D when i get the window sticker in my hands ill scan it and post it.

BEWARE!!!!
If Stevemon (Steve Monroe) the boards self proclaimed expert finds you EVER purchased a paint brush or paint sometime in your life, he will accuse you of painting them yourself. (notice the uneven lines, Home depot paint, brush had 255 strands instead of 258) you get the picture.

I smell sour grapes :p

Since just about every aftermarket vendor is here or known here it would be interesting to find out who he contacted. Maybe someone should e-mail him for a vendor referral and tell him if he can prove it they will pay big bucks.
