i know this isn't normally tb.com's cup of tea, but i figured i'd share in the event someone might enjoy the pics/story..

cliffs:
$500 allowance to buy a car, this includes the car and any mods not deemed safety mods

safety mods include:
cage
race seat
fire extinguisher
wheels
tires
brakes

other than that... everything has to be $500 or less

caveats:
motors can be bought for $500 on the spot, no questions asked
cars can be crushed beyond recognition if everyone votes you a cheater


this is our second race, the first one was plagued with tranny and motor problems... got maybe 30-40 laps in before it was over.


so i got there early on friday to check out the scene.

this SHOtime entry had fastest lap until late sunday afternoon at 2:12:xx

this guy had no concept of a racing line. drag race down the straight, hug the inside edge of each turn, get in everyone's way

this fruitstripe gum bmw ended up having the best laptime of the race in the 2:10:xx

thought this car was funny. probe. aliens. yeah.

ohh... the throttle cable came loose. yeah.

bad ass. i loved this car. it was slow and had lots of problems but was cool.

we made it!

in the last 4 hours our brakes consisted of backing plate on rotor, so we had to slow a little bit. but we ended up 18th overall. 16th in our class. started in 43rd place. had a 10 lap penalty so we actually tied the 17/15th place car at 281 laps. even though they were in a race prepped e30 with star specs, professional drivers, etc.

considering the problems we had I think we did pretty damn good. me and guerojo are psyched we finished, compared to the ****storm we dealt with last year.
