I'm assuming this shuts off when you close the hood. But how? And why does everyone unplug theirs?

So they don't run the battery down in the pits, or at car shows, or in the garage when you have working on it.

It is activated by a mercury switch. I unplugged mine due to my hood always being up...my car hates me

Do a google search...there are pics of the ones for Corvettes...they are very small.

I always planned on getting a thumbwheel clicker switches like on a beer sign to put on mine. That way it would still work when I wanted it to, but I could turn it off when the hood's up for a long time.

Great idea Earl !
